Cubs (8-10yrs)
Just what is Cubs all about?
Cub Scouting provides a safe learning environment for boys and girls between 8 and 10 years.
Cubs generally meet once a week during the school term, as well as occasionally going on weekend activities.
Scouting isn’t like other outside activities, such as sports, where you sign up and do the same things week after week. There’s a lot of variety in Cubs—each week is usually comprised of a variety of different and fun activities!
We provide opportunities for cubs to express themselves creatively through skits, games, campfire songs, jokes, stories and craft activities. We also provide many challenges for Cubs. These are always individual challenge, in which it is up to the Cub to do their best.
These are just a few of the cool activities Cubs have recently enjoyed:
Sleepovers
Staying overnight at the hall a couple of times each year for movie or campfire nights.
Camping
We go on fun camps all over the state, including Cuboree with over 2,500 other Cubs.
Rafting
Cubs have fun constructing their own rafts, then enjoy paddling it.
Games and Crafts
We always play fun games, learn new activities, try exciting crafts and make new friends.
Cooking
Cubs learn to cook food for themselves over a fire. Eating the yummy food they make is half the reward!
Out-and-About Activities
Sometimes we leave the scout hall to try things we may not normally get to do. We’ve taken excursions for:
- Bowling
- Archery
- Climbing
- Water sports
- Billy karts
- Canoeing
- Cycling
- Hiking
- Amateur radio
- And much more!
Badges
Cubs earn badges to recognize their progress through the year.
These badges are attached to the Cubs’ uniform shirts, as proof that they have tried their best at completing key activities.
